Field Actions, Workshops, and Public Event Timetables

Our field activities bring books, digital literacy, and civic dialogue directly into the daily rhythm of rural Haute-Provence. Every workshop, storytelling session, and mobile delivery circuit is completely non-commercial and open to the public without cost.

1. Three Core Operational Program Modules

LECTURE ET CULTURE organizes its field activities around three structured modules designed to reach diverse age groups and address territorial vulnerabilities across Reillanne and neighboring communes:

Module I: Intergenerational Reading Circles & Literary Salons

Held every Tuesday morning and alternate Thursday evenings, our reading circles bring together long-time rural residents, young apprentices, and newcomers to examine literary works, regional poetry, and historical chronicles. Rather than formal academic critique, these gatherings prioritize personal reflections, storytelling, and thoughtful dialogue.

Beneficiary Reach: Over 45 regular attendees each month, fostering strong cross-generational friendships and combating rural loneliness during quiet winter months.

Module II: Youth Literacy Tutoring & School Collaborations

In coordination with teachers at the Reillanne communal primary school, our volunteer literacy mediators host weekly classroom library visits, early reader discovery games, and individual homework reading support. Special attention is directed toward children with dyslexia or reading anxieties, utilizing specialized dyslexia-friendly typefaces and audio-assisted reading books.

Beneficiary Reach: 120 primary pupils engaged weekly, helping bridge early educational divides and fostering an organic enthusiasm for independent exploration.

Module III: Digital Inclusion & E-Administration Workstations

Our public workstations provide free computer and high-speed internet access, enabling residents without home connectivity to manage administrative tasks, consult health insurance portals, print certificates, and communicate with distant relatives. Volunteer coaches offer calm, individualized guidance every Wednesday and Saturday.

Beneficiary Reach: 350+ individual coaching sessions conducted annually, restoring dignity and autonomy to residents affected by the dematerialization of public procedures.

3. Field Action Plan 2026: Execution Status

Our 2026 operational program is progressing on schedule across all designated territorial targets:

Hamlets Outreach Extension

The mobile lending vehicle has added regular bi-weekly stops in two additional outlying hamlets along the Calavon valley, bringing book loans directly to thirty-two isolated seniors who cannot drive into town.

Large-Print Collection Expansion

Supported by departmental cultural grants, we acquired 240 new large-print titles and 85 unabridged audiobooks in 2026, significantly improving accessibility for visually impaired patrons.

Our volunteer coordinators continuously assess participation patterns to adapt session times, ensuring working parents, agricultural laborers, and schoolchildren all find convenient access points.

4. Annual Public Cultural Celebrations

In addition to our weekly workshops, LECTURE ET CULTURE coordinates two major annual civic gatherings celebrating the spoken and written word in rural Provence:

Nuit de la Lecture (January)

An evening candlelight reading vigil hosted inside the media library hall. Community members of all generations bring excerpts of favorite novels, poems, or family letters to read aloud. Herbal tea, warm spiced cider, and local pastries are shared freely among attendees.

Printemps des Poètes (March)

A week-long celebration where poetic verses penned by local schoolchildren, seniors, and regional writers are displayed on wooden placards throughout the village alleys of Reillanne, transforming the entire commune into an open-air literary gallery.

These seasonal festivities bring hundreds of residents together in a shared celebration of language, community identity, and artistic expression, reinforcing the social solidarity of our territory without commercial sponsorship.

5. Mobile Lending Vehicle Operations & Safety Protocols

Operating our mobile book outreach van across winding foothill roads requires rigorous coordination. Two civic volunteers are assigned to every mobile circuit, ensuring mutual safety and personalized attention for every homebound reader.

Before each route, the team reviews the customized reading preferences of scheduled stops—selecting historical mysteries for a retired blacksmith in Vachères, nature photography volumes for an elder in Sainte-Croix, or audio recordings of classical theater for a visually impaired beneficiary near Montjustin. This level of personalized care transforms routine book loans into deep expressions of human solidarity.

6. Join an Upcoming Activity

All workshops and reading circles are open to the public without advance registration, though seating for monthly lectures is available on a first-come basis. If you have mobility constraints or require special accommodations, our volunteer coordinators are ready to assist.
